Restoration work, reopening of La Clairière, La Mauricie National Park

The project aims to reopen the La Clairière group camping site, which has been closed for two years. A redevelopment of certain day-use areas and management procedures will be carried out, notably to reduce the impact on the wood turtle and improve the visitor experience, including

- Demobilization of existing fire sites (fixed furniture, base and fire ring) and implementation of a single new fire ring. - Demobilization of the canoe rack (near the beach, to the north) - Relocation of the boat launch from the beach to the access built during the aquatic restoration project (to the south) and consolidation of the current access to a 5-metre opening on the water (removal of two stumps, revegetation of bare areas, mats and silt pads) - Storage of 10 to 12 canoes at the top of the shoreline embankment (delineated grassy area).- Demobilization of the 3 lighter BBQ's and replacement with two double lighter BBQ areas near the service buildings  - Reduction of the possible camping area and concentration of it towards the north central area - Inspection and preventive maintenance of the buildings and services. - Ecological restoration of the northernmost fire area and temporal closure of the beach, if needed.

Most of the activities fit into the Preapproved routine impact assessment- Frontcountry Sites and SARA permit decision tool. However, as work is required to assess the impacts of the placement of a dock, work in or below the high water mark, a basic impact assessment will be conducted.
