To allow the construction of the world's largest nuclear power plant just over an hour east of Toronto at the proposed Wesleyville site is to place the most vulnerable in our community--children, animals, and the diverse ecosystem native to the Great Lakes Watershed--in perpetual, existential danger. The site itself would pose an ongoing, chronic risk to all life, as a nuclear power plant of such epic proportions ("the world's largest") is necessarily a threat to both national security (as a potential military target), and ground zero for conceivable, watershed-wide catastrophic environmental contamination. As the Great Lakes watershed is the largest surface freshwater system on Earth and is entirely connected, such devastation would have local, provincial, national, and global consequences.
